We love April here at the Lima Public Library! National Library Week begins April 23 and lasts until April 29. The theme for this year is “There’s More to the Story.” We know that you happen to be a fellow library lover. But have you ever expressed your love for your library and been met with, “A library? Who uses a library anymore?” Community members who haven’t visited in a while may not know all that libraries offer.
Sure, you have access to all 42 libraries in the OWWL System with your library card. Of course that means you have access to all the materials in those libraries, free of charge. While we love to read and catch up on the newest hot TV series or check out a new audiobook, we offer much more.
Our public computers and free Wi-Fi can help you search for your next job or write that research paper. You can use our printer to take home a recipe that piques your interest or print out your resume.
Have you wanted to check out local attractions but are on a budget? We have 2 passes to the National Warplane Museum in Geneseo and 3 Empire Passes which provide free access to most NYS parks.
Do you know someone who would love to check out materials but is housebound? Let them know about OWWL’s Books by Mail program. OWWL also offers Books to Go which provides bulk lending to agencies serving or housing older adults such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and senior apartments in the four OWWL counties.
We love our community too and have been proud to partner with wonderful organizations in the past. This past year, through OWWL’s Great Give Back initiative, we were able to bring an incredible number of supplies to Lima Primary School. During the holiday season, we partner with the Lima Food Pantry to collect mittens, hats, and gloves for their Christmas baskets.
We offer all of these things and so much more. We hope to see you this April and beyond.
