Vietnam Mailbag with Nancy Lynch
VIETNAM MAILBAG, VOICES FROM THE WAR: 1968-1972
PRESS RELEASE
Journalist Nancy E. Lynch, author of the award-winning social history, Vietnam Mailbag, Voices From the War: 1968-1972, shares selected war letters on October 15 at 3 p.m. at the Lima Public Library.
Sponsored by the library at 1872 Genesee St., Lima, NY, Lynch’s program focuses on frontline correspondence. Her acclaimed book is based on nearly 1,000 letters and hundreds of pictures her popular News Journal column received in Wilmington, DE during the final five years of that polarizing war.
In her last column in December 1972, she promised “her guys” she would someday put all their correspondence and pictures in a book to honor them and Vietnam veterans throughout the country.
The Veterans Day 2008 release of her 456-page tribute fulfilled her pledge. Since 2009, Lynch, whose maternal grandparents lived in Canandaigua, returns to the Finger Lakes each May and October for her Salute to Vietnam Veterans Tour to increase awareness of their service and many sacrifices.
Lynch, who lives in Bethel, DE, has written seven books, all non-fiction. Her autographed Vietnam Mailbag book will be available to purchase for $40 after her program.
